DePuy ASR hip recall

The 2010 DePuy Hip Replacement Recall was instituted when DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc., a division of Johnson and Johnson, recalled its ASR XL Acetabular metal-on-metal hip replacement system on August 24, 2010.

At present there is DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing/ Replacement  litigation for people who have undergone early revision procedures as a result of being implanted with the ASR component.
The recall means that patients who have already undergone one surgical procedure to replace a hip may have to undergo a “revision”. That is, a second surgery. Reasons for the failure of the hip replacement system may include component loosening, component malalignment, infection, fracture of the bone, dislocation, metal sensitivity and pain.

The claimants are seeking compensation for the pain, suffering and financial loss sustained as result of the early failure of their ASR implant.

If you or a relative has been affected by the ASR Recall and would like to discuss the possibility of making a claim for compensation or require further information please contact our office.
